This tasteful and finally crafted Japanese covered box has a pleasingly subdued “gold“dusted background with a single leafy gold lacquered tree depicted on each individual side and top. Overall, it would be described as “scholars taste, with each tree completed by using both the top and bottom parts of the box. Silver colored metal protects the connecting edges of the top and bottom with an additional decorated loose ring handle on either side. Late Edo (1603-1368) or Early Meiji  periods.
