This large and rare Japanese display/tea chest has very pleasing and intricately carved leaf and chrysanthemum patterns, which are finely colored in cinnabar tones and cover virtually the entire visible area. Additionally, two lovely relief-carved landscape scenes adorn the two bottom doors.     Meiji Period (1868–1911)
