This style of low altar coffer is peculiar to Korea. It had a variety of uses from ritual to display to tea serving. It has very pleasing, highly figured would and extensive bronze/brass fittings. All of this sitting on the ubiquitous Korean style stand, which is on occasion actually connected to the upper piece, but is more often made separately. This particular piece is probably early to mid 20th century, although it possibly could be earlier because of some of the tool markings. We prefer to err on the more conservative side.
